Taxonomy: Kraus and Cameron (2016) corrected the spelling of the species epithet of the Eastern Ribbonsnake from sauritus to saurita, the name used by Crother et al. (2017). Of the four recognized subspecies (Crother et al. 2017), only T. s. saurita (Common Ribbonsnake) occurs in Tennessee (Conant and Collins 1998).

Distribution: The Eastern Ribbonsnake has been documented throughout most of West Tennessee and from several counties in northwestern and southeastern Middle Tennessee.
